AMD FX LION |
This tutorial is ment to be an all in one solution to install OS X Lion on Bulldozer (or similar) AM3+ CPUs that support the SSSE3 instruction set. My patch will only work for these CPUs. I take no credit for the kernel included with this patch. Only the patch script itself. This thread would not be possible without the work of the guys over here. Be sure to thank them!

1. You can burn the Niresh ISO from any operating system.
On Windows, I recommend ImgBurn, its free. For Mac just use Disk Utility. This would also be a good time to burn the extra files to a CD, or keep them on a flash drive, etc.
2. Setup your Bios
On the M5A97 LE, I restored optimized defaults, turned off all AMD specific modes/instruction sets except for AMD Virtualization. Make sure SATA mode is set to AHCI on every port/controller.
3. Boot from the Niresh 10.7.3 V2 DVD, when prompted press F8.
4. Boot the Install DVD with these boot flags: "Kernel Cache"=\amd arch=i386 -v
5. That should get you into the installer.
I had a set_colors kernel panic, so i used: "Kernel Cache"=\amd arch=i386 colors=32 -v
If you have more than 4GB of ram you may also have to use: maxmem=4096
If you have more than 4GB of ram you may also have to use: maxmem=4096
6. Follow the installer until you get to the point of selecting your Install location.
7. In the Menu Bar, select Utilities -> Disk Utility.
8. Select your disk, use erase to format your drive. Use Mac OS Extended (Journaled) file system.
9. Quit Disk Utility.
10. When you are back in the installer, select your partition, and click Customize.
11. Select the AMD Kernel, don't worry about selecting the the arch=i386 stuff for the boot loader.
I also used Graphics Enabler and NvInjector for my GeForce GT 530, worked oob with QE/CI. Select any other optional drivers you need. If you are unsure, do not select anything, as it can cause kernel panics. It's better to research and find the right driver for your hardware. Post on these forums if you need assistance, thats exactly what we are here for!
12. Start the OS X installation.
13. When the Installation is done, you can eject the Niresh DVD at reboot. Press any key at boot loader to stop the auto boot.
14. Type the following boot flags: arch=i386 -force64 -v
I had to use colors=32 with the GT 530. Use maxmem=4096 if needed (the 64bit kernel will fix this).
15. Follow the setup wizard. When you are done, you should be able to login to your desktop.
16. Extract DH4s Lion Bulldozer Patch.zip (double click).
17. Copy the contents to the root of your OS X Install, and authenticate.
18. Double Click "DH4s Patcher"
19. Type in your password and press Enter.
20. When the patcher has completed, you can reboot your computer.
Now, you can install any additional drivers (audio and ethernet for example). Enjoy your new Hackintosh!
Other Thoughts
This kernel should support 10.7.4 but I have not updated yet, so cannot guarantee this, nor provide an outline to make it work. Upgrade at your own risk. ;-) I have been having issues with Adobe Master Collection CS6, I am unsure if it is my download causing the issues. Or a bug with being on an AMD platform. However CS5 seems to work without issues. So, I'm happy with that for now. Let me know If you get CS6 working. Everything else I have tried on this Hackintosh has worked perfectly! Absolutely no kernel panics after this patch :-)
If you notice any typos, or any info I forgot to add, just let me know!
Thanks,
